#RPG – Zelart Scholarship for Genre Artists 2019-2020

It’s only January the 6th and I’m already a bit overstretched. Despite one of my resolutions being not to let that happen.

This is for good reasons at least! I used the end of last year to raise money for my friend Jamie’s wheelchair – which he should be getting soon, but we do need a bit more funding to cover fitting and customisations should you feel generous.

I’ve also done a couple of things and have given money to help fight the Australian Fires. I’d encourage other people to do that too.

I’ve also had to help out a couple of hard-up friends (worse off than me) over the holiday period.

I don’t know that I have the energy to do justice to another fundraising campaign right now, and there’s always a great deal of negativity from certain quarters when I run the scholarship. Negativity I don’t feel as equipped to tackle as usual.

I did, recently, discover some of Zel’s art that hadn’t been published yet. I will be putting the usable parts of this art up for sale, piece by piece, in the coming weeks and days.

Sales raised just about $100 specifically for the scholarship last year. I will invest that money in new pieces of art, from people that need commissions.

Otherwise, I throw this open to artists associated with the game industry or fandom, if you want to donate any pieces to the cause of raising money for next year and helping more young artists, it would be greatly appreciated.

#RPG – A Month of Monsters – The Halbtior

64656You can buy this piece of stock art, for as little as $1 this month as part of a promotion. We have a promotion running all month, 31 pieces of monstrous stock art, one a day until all are at on sale culminating on the 31st for Halloween.

This piece depicts a bestial face, perhaps that of a werewolf or similar.

The halbtior is a kind of werebeast that is in a permanent state of flux, the curse gone wrong. Unable to assume any one of their forms fully, their flesh moves, their bones crack and their muscles, skin and fur flow over their body in an ever-shifting motion. Even at rest, arms or legs swell, new teeth burst forth or shrink back and – unsurprisingly – the creature is in a state of constant pain and only gets relief from inflicting or taking harm. Unable to hide, they rarely last long. Perhaps 1/100 lycanthropic curses produce a halbtior, rather than the more normal legacy of their kind.

#RPG – A Month of Monsters – Avarus, the Dragon of Greed

DragonYou can buy this piece of stock art, for as little as $1 this month as part of a promotion. We have a promotion running all month, 31 pieces of monstrous stock art, one a day until all are at on sale culminating on the 31st for Halloween.

This piece depicts a dragon, squatting atop its golden hoard.

This is Avarus, a dragon of greed (in medieval times dragons were associated with the serpent from the Bible, and with the various sins). Avarus squats in a vast underground chamber beneath a stone circle, tended and attended by a cult of corrupted druids who bring him riches and perform human sacrifices – even though he answers no prayers and has no special powers to aid them, he can only withhold his wrath.

The area around him – out to seven miles – is filled with small, dilapidated villages, filled with suspicious people and misers. Many around here bury their treasure or take extreme precautions against thieves. You can also expect to pay a great deal more for goods and services throughout this area, as much as your purse can stand. Market days, often jolly and festival-like elsewhere, are nasty, mean-spirited and frequently spill over into fights here.

It has been like this since the days of old when squabbling over the succession to a long dead, and now forgotten queen gave rise to Avarus, a physical embodiment of greed, born of the clutching schemes of her children.

#RPG – A Month of Monsters – The Bestial Vampire

bestialvampireYou can buy this piece of stock art, for as little as $1 this month as part of a promotion. We have a promotion running all month, 31 pieces of monstrous stock art, one a day until all are at on sale culminating on the 31st for Halloween.

This piece depicts a bestial vampire.

These creatures are poor wretches, given the gift of blood too late to be fully brought back to life or left to starve until their wits have left them. They are now little more than animals, driven only by a thirst for blood, a hunger for flesh and an instinctual hatred for the sunlight, fire, holy places and running water – though their bestial nature makes them immune to some of the more traditional banes of vampires. Elder vampires and necromantic experimenters sometimes use them as guard dogs, their keen senses and animalistic instincts making them excellent guards and a violent deterrent to tomb robbers.

This bundle is essentially a publisher start-up pack, with enough art to – potentially – keep you going for years. It’s a FANTASTIC deal!

It may not be the absolute end-all-and-be-all of “Deals of the Century,” but the Clip Art Critter Mega-Bundle may be all a small publisher will ever need to fill his art needs! For two hundred dollars, you can purchase all four hundred images published to date… an 87% savings over the normal price! Some images are lightly NSFW, though none are pornogrpahic.
