#OpenDnD – Public Domain Roleplaying PANZA Draft 1.1

UPDATE: Draft 1.1 is now in the folder.

Rules systems cannot be copyrighted, only their arrangement, order or phrasing. As such, to preserve the future of a ‘common tongue’ of roleplaying games, I have spent time since the OGL announcement modifying and producing (with help) a genericised version of the ‘Rosetta Stone’ of roleplaying games. It is not complete by any means and is not meant to be a playable game in and of itself, but it lays out concepts and common gaming heritage so as to allow people to continue to write and create without hindrance – hopefully.

If you think anything needs adding, find any errors or notice any outstanding IP or TM that hasn’t been excised, please contact me at grimstales@googlemail.com and title the email PANZA [Title]. I am actively soliciting your feedback and contributions.

This is public domain and is not intended to infringe on any copyright, trademark or intellectual property. Remedy will be made if any credible challenge can be made to the content.

This draft has not yet been properly edited, expediency being more important at present.

You can grab a copy HERE.

This took a couple of weeks to do, which I didn’t really have spare. If you’re so inclined to help out you can do so here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/jdesborough

#TTRPG – #GrimGame Project starts with Poison’d

Before all the OGL nonsense hit, I was going to take things a bit easier this year and also start a project of actually PLAYING games from my vast library of #TTRPG books.

Belatedly, let’s try and get that #GrimGame project started.

We’ll start with the game Poisn’d, a notorious light RPG about pirates doing horrible things to people and each other.

  • Pregenerated characters.
  • Streamed game.
  • Open to all.
  • 4 slots.
  • 8pm-Midnight UK, Friday the 20th.

Takers?

#TTRPG – Postmortem Studios Re-Licensing Under CC

We are relicensing all material under the Creative Commons. Details can be found in the PDF above.

Basically, if you check the old Section 15 in any and all OGL products produced by Postmortem Studios, anything we provided as open content is now available under the CC license.

We cannot release other companies’ or individuals’ material (such as OpenD6 etc.) in the same way, but it is our understanding that Section 13 of the original OGL allows sublicenses to continue even after the termination of the original OGL license. Nonetheless, we hope other designers and companies will follow suit and shift to CC licensing.

The only way in which Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro could regain the confidence of the TTRPG community at this point, would be to revise the 1.0a Open Gaming License to include the word ‘Irrevocable’, and even in the best case scenario, we do not anticipate this happening.

Please sign the PETITION against the OGL 1.1 changes, and SIGN the open letter.
