Yes, at least one of my products is part of this bundle.
No. I don’t approve and judging from the comments a lot of people don’t.
The Southern Poverty Law Centre may have done some good things in the past, but in these modern times I cannot support it.
This isn’t to do with their poor treatment of the Men’s Human Rights Movement, though they did treat them unfairly by conflating all manner of different groups together and tarring them all with the same brush. Nor is it to do with their post-Trump actions, even though they are deeply biased (and I’m not Trump supporter).
No. My concern with the SPLC is more to do with their treatment of two Islamic reformation/secularism activists – Ayaan Hirsi-Ali and Maajid Nawaaz. They placed them on a list of anti-Muslim extremists alongside genuine bigots and fascists – which they are not. Already under threat from Islamic extremists this has helped place their lives in even deeper risk and has undermined their work.
If you are concerned with the alleged rise of extremism and racism in the US and are threatened by the incoming regime – and I don’t blame you for doing so – there are better places to send your money. Places that do their research properly and don’t undermine genuinely progressive voices. I’d suggest the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the American Humanists Association and similar.
The ownership of some of my products is complicated and that’s how at least one of them ended up as part of this bundle. The decision was made innocently and without my input, with the best motivations, but I do not approve. It’s nobody’s fault, but please don’t support this bundle on my behalf.
G
Yeah they also buried racism against white in that they found in a report on racism post Trump, because it didn’t fit their narrative.
The SPLC has increasingly no crediblity.
